How to get started

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. No fee is charged for the initial evaluation including panoramic x-ray or any future reevaluation visits prior to treatment. When you arrive for your visit, Michelle our scheduling coordinator, will greet you and show you how to sign in on our reception area computer. Please feel free to help yourself to our refreshments. Liz, our Treatment Coordinator, will start by giving you a tour of the office. She will also take a panoramic x-ray to assist Dr. Kohlmann with her diagnosis. Dr. Kohlmann will then conduct a complete orthodontic clinical exam. The findings and the benefits of any necessary treatment will be then discussed in detail with you. This important 60-minute visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. We know your time is valuable. We may also reserve time following the exam for diagnostic records to expedite treatment. The records include X-rays, photos and impressions. These records assist the doctor in developing the appropriate treatment plan. During the initial examination, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well. Is there a condition that orthodontics can address? Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred? What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem? How long will treatment take? How much will it cost? What are my payment options? We feel it is important to analyze each patient's specific needs, because in-depth planning leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction. We make sure that our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of and how long it will take. Also, we will answer any additional questions. If you have orthodontic insurance, please bring your insurance card. By providing insurance information at the time you schedule your first visit, we will be able to give you an estimate of your costs without delay.
